WILLIAM CAREY

CO-FOUNDER AND Chairman EMERITUS

William “Bill” Carey, co-founder and chairman emeritus of Newport Hospitality Group, took his 35 year history of market franchising and financial success, and distilled it into a company designed to optimize the performance of client hotel properties.

As the principal owner of numerous NHG managed hotels, Bill has long been involved in the hospitality industry, orchestrating complex acquisitions, repositioning and financings. He has also been intimately involved in the long-range planning, growth and development of NHG itself

After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1956, Bill joined the sales and marketing department of AIRCO, an industrial products company. During his 21-year career with AIRCO, Bill was responsible for overseeing 200 franchised distributors.

Bill then became president of his family’s business, TLC Capital, Inc., which had as its primary interest a 47,000-acre ranch in northern Texas (which was sold in 2000) and a 15,000-acre ranch in central Oklahoma.

A dynamic and charismatic leader, Bill excels at instilling NHG’s core values of service, quality and efficiency. He has built a strong family legacy and is pleased to see both of his sons continuing the tradition.
